On Sept. 28 members attended the Autumn Glory Days at the Farmers Market and enjoyed answering all the questions about fires, the equipment and the engines.
On Oct. 9 the Department, assisted by Heidi Marshall Director of Marketing and Leasing and her staff, held an event for the residents of Emjay Way. This was a great opportunity for teaching fire prevention and for recruitment of new members for the fire department.
On Oct. 10 there was an open house at the Carthage Fire Department where there were demonstrations using upper level bail-out equipment and the use of fire extinquishers. Fort Drum personnel were present with their fire prevention trailer giving demonstrations and teaching what to do with different types of fires. Kids attending received their own fire helmet and had the opportunity to explore the fire engine and equipment.

Sept. 19, 2012. New members receive training from Chad Stickles, assisted by Scott Day, on how to use their SCBA. Seasoned members are always welcomed to take refresher classes along with the new members.
Sept. 24, 2012. Training was held at Eiss Brothers in Evans Mills attended by thirteen members of the department. The training was held to demonstrate how to use new JAWS of Life equipment.
Oct. 3 and Oct.12, 2012. Adam Lundquist, Chad Stickles and Pete Crump Jr. train members of Carthage & W. Carthage fire departments on how to use bailout equipment from both lower and upper levels of a building.
The Carthage Fire Department arrived at this house fire on Selos Road, Carthage a little before 3 p.m. Wednesday August 22. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The family cat had not been located.
Crews say the house and all of its contents were a total loss, leaving two residents homeless.
The Carthage Fire Chief says that road construction on a nearby bridge made extinguishing efforts slightly more challenging.
